OpenAI and lots of other sites say that you can’t change the email address associated with your account, but you can and here are the steps to do it.
WARNING: We’re going to remove your existing OpenAI member, and any API Keys associated with them.
- Add a new Member to your account with the new email address you want to use. Set it to be Owner.
- Accept the invite, and create an account using the same phone number you used previously (yes this worked for me)
- After the new Member account is setup, login as that user. If you are using an API Key, generate a new one now and switch your apps over to it.
- Remove the member associated with the old email address you no longer want on your OpenAI account. (this will also remove any API Keys generated by that member)
- That’s it, you’re done. The OpenAI account now only has 1 member and that member has the new email address.
